# Fan analysis: Intimacy Level and Tag

### **Seeker sorts all fans into 4 levels according to their activity and engagement.**

![](https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/Vqjj3mWP7U3KZpKSz6r38lt1lVG8wEkFBcz3gtnysdJR6IYeixXhD0NoivRTeFhyAGck3EhZ16gjNAabcuMppXmFh4UdpV9zAsNcmAS4Y46oSYETjHjUxde9IJ4zP3LvFM6q4RD5)

**Super Fan:** The interaction behavior of Super Fans is the most active among all fans, and they are more interested in your service than other fans. They take more reactions and comments, they also comment faster than the other fans.<br>

**Regulars:** The behavior of Regulars is very close to Super Fans. They may soon become Super Fans, or they are the Super Fans who have lost interest. It is recommended that you can follow the posts that Regulars like, and turn them into Super Fans.<br>

**Occasionals:** Occasionals are those who are initially interested in your posts. They may be downgraded from Regulars, and will soon lose interest in your content. You need to pay special attention to the interaction of this group of people.<br>

**Passersby:** Passersby fall into two categories: new fans, and fans who haven’t interacted for a long time. If you want to increase the hits of Page posts, it is recommended to observe the preferences of Passersby and create posts to attract new fans.\
\
**First Engaged User**: the person who interacted with your post for the first time.

By adjusting the period in the upper right corner, you can understand how many users you have recently attracted to interact with you for the first time, then understand which post brings the most new fans.

Click into the post report, then you can also see how many users are interacting with the post for the first time during the selected period.

### **Post Potentiality**

Comparing the fans intimacy level of “who engaged with the post” with “overall”, Seeker classifies the performance of the post into “Consolidate, “Expanding, and Top Posts”. You’ll know which post attracted the Super Fans or Passersby.

### **Tag & Fans Report**

By categorizing fans' behavior with tags, you can filter fans to get insight from their behaviors and the list of them.

### **How to find out the preference of a specific group of fans?**

You’ll know the posts the group of fans also interacted with, as well as the tags they were being labeled, and get future marketing inspiration by using the filter of Fans Report!

{% hint style="info" %}
To analyze more, you should start labeling fans through [Post Auto-Tag](/seeker/post-event), then, you will find more insights through filter fans with tags:
{% endhint %}

![](https://4036424674-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LlAIFssOEGqft8svll9%2F-MaRBqSHgA8CAZhdkRsZ%2F-MaRF1HqP599J27N-3oZ%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=ea7b35d6-ca9b-4695-bdc7-797496244ef7)

How to get the “Fans Report” in Seeker:

1. Go to “Tag & Fans Report”
2. Select conditions in the filter, such as “Interacted with specific posts in the past one month”, “Being tagged with a specific tag”.
3. Get the fans report by clicking “Filter”!

# Post & Analysis Dashboard

Check out your posts' insights in Seeker Post & Analysis Dashboard!

Seeker provides two kinds of performance report:

1\. **Post Potentiality** - Summarizes the changes of interactive fans&#x20;

2\. **Post Performance** - Organizes complete post data, the KPI ,and average<br>

### Post Potentiality&#x20;

There are 3 types of posts’ potentiality according to fans’ activities and engagements.

![](https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/ThU7J3NdeASCKT35diofTsPeRIRvxCJuZjL1fi721c7E_QEw1lyJOW_rQDzGbdaJlDIBohXsL5LkDAXUcyO53t6-4CqRKOxpIGjEsrK9DURRSt_22triw5zuP8ApqT6ICcLy9Zxo)

**Consolidating Post** means the interaction between Super Fans or Regulars is higher than average. It means that this post can consolidate the existing fans and lift the conversion rate.

**Expanding Post** means the interaction between Passersby and Occasionals is relatively high. It means that this kind of post attracts the interaction of the people who are less familiar with you and also effectively expands the reach of fans.

**Top Post** means the interaction between Super Fans and Passersby has increased.

It is recommended to **enable the Post Event** to label fans by reaction and comment since it’s the best type of post in the time period you selected.<br>

With the Post Potentiality report, you can understand the engagement of your Page better. You can also change the time period to view the report.

# Broadcast

Seeker’s Broadcast is a powerful feature for market retargeting. With message broadcasting, you can send direct messages to fans who have interacted with you in the previous “Post Event” campaigns, grasp as many opportunities of SMSs with them as possible, so that you can fulfill further customer retargeting.&#x20;

Once a customer sends messages to the Facebook Page, your chatbot will be able to broadcast messages to them for free in return.

### **Types of Message Broadcasting on Facebook**

#### **1. Messages sent within the 24-hour window may contain promotional content.**

Promotion messages can only be sent to people who interacted with the bot within the past 24 hours. For those who last interacted with the bot for more than 24 hours in the past, they will only receive the first component of the promotion message.\
If you are planning to go on the promotion event via message broadcasting, please pay attention to sending messages within 24 hours so that you can enhance conversions from any potential customers.

#### **2. Messages sent out of the 24-hour window that does not contain promotional content.**

There is no restriction on non-promotional contents. The non-promotional contents must be tagged with one of four Message Tags: “**CONFIRMED\_EVENT\_UPDATE**” (The confirmation of event updates), “**POST\_PURCHASE\_UPDATE**” (The post of purchase updates), “**ACCOUNT\_UPDATE**” (The announcement of account update), or Human Agent

**Attention:** It is against the Messenger policy to broadcast promotional messages through tags, for it may cause account suspension.

### **Set Audience to Broadcast Messages**

Besides broadcast to all customers engaged with your Messenger bot before, you can target a specific audience to send messages for precise marketing. See the two ways below:

1. Selected Tag: Broadcast messages to the audience with certain tags, such as sending the information of your latest food product to the audience tagged with “Interests in Foods”.
2. Filter Audience from Tag List: Broadcast messages to the audience engaged during a certain period of time, on a specific level of customer intimacy, and with some particular tags. It helps users to precisely target potential customers or buyers.

# (7) Set Rules

### Things you should know

Rules are a set of certain conditions to tell the bot what to respond. To put it simply, rules are the connections between **“what bot understands”** (e.g., NLU) and **”what bot responds”** (e.g., message). Setting rules means to set up which message the bot will respond with, once the bot understands certain contents.

### Steps

1. Click on **`My Bot`** > **`Dialogue`**
2. Select the **message** that you want to add rules on.
3. On the top, select **`Rules`** , then add a rule by clicking **`+ Rule`**
4. On **`Type`** , choose the type of rule (Types are illustrated as follow.)

![](https://4036424674-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LlAIFssOEGqft8svll9%2F-LpSHT0MRzHmkGdj05nH%2F-LpSH_sqCyWXYiI5qaj-%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=b9537309-e7a1-417b-822c-c066f1d7eadd)

### Types of Rules

1. NLU (Intent and Entity)
2. Keyword matching (one or more keywords)
3. Regular expression

Method 1 and 2 are more commonly used. Below is an in-depth description on the differences.

#### 1. Using NLU as a rule

‌Set a rule with intents and/ or entity as a rule.&#x20;

For example: Intent **“Take away”**, **“Price”**, Entity **“Drinks”**

![](https://4036424674-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LlAIFssOEGqft8svll9%2F-LpSHT0MRzHmkGdj05nH%2F-LpSHdDlA4ci21iZ7bFm%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=8566b604-a6fb-463b-a21b-fe70a41870d4)

![](https://4036424674-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LlAIFssOEGqft8svll9%2F-LpSHT0MRzHmkGdj05nH%2F-LpSHgA795SCPvcPTUgD%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=d24b1959-7b2b-464a-adb2-0e609b1de264)

#### 2. Using keyword matching as a rule

For instance, you can set keywords such as “take away” or “order” as a rule. When any of these keywords appears in the sentence, it tells the bot to respond with this message.

![](https://4036424674-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LlAIFssOEGqft8svll9%2F-LpSHT0MRzHmkGdj05nH%2F-LpSHiu77Kggful1jVUh%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=0f23de44-ed55-457e-99d9-39d937067c6c)

#### ‌3. Using regular expressions as a rule

Regular expression is a sequence of characters that define a search pattern. \
For instance, you want to set up a rule that can match the words including “order” and “take away”, you can use regular expression as the rule.&#x20;

**I want to order drinks.**\
**I want to take away .**

The above sentences, you can use a single regular expression to match both of them.

**^I (want|would like to) (order|take away)(drinks)?.$**

For more detailed tutorial, check out [Regular Expression](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/regular-expression)

{% hint style="danger" %}
Note: A particular rule can be only used in one message. A message can contain several rules.
{% endhint %}

# (8) Publish

### Things you should know

1. Notes for publishing chatbots
2. How to publish

### 1. Before publishing

1. Make sure that **you have finished editing dialogue**, such as correctly naming the buttons and connecting to its corresponding messages. Also, do make sure that all rules of the messages are correctly set.
2. Remember to **train your bot before publishing**. Also, if you have updated utterances, you need to click on **`Train`** and wait until training is finished.
3. Most importantly, make sure **your bot is connected** to either Facebook page or LINE@ account. If not, you can follow the guide on [Create Chatbot and Connect](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/jian-ji-qi-ren-zhi-nan/2-create-a-chatbot-and-connect).

### 2. How to publish

‌Click on the **`Publish`** button on the top right corner, and wait for the **“Successfully published”** notification.&#x20;

![](https://4036424674-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LlAIFssOEGqft8svll9%2F-LpSK60sVjvqGJOGMiX2%2F-LpSK70csqOCQkPtzv6x%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=73029fca-a8e8-4299-a0ee-00e2d275c90c)

After publishing, you can test out your bot and check if the bot responds as expected.<br>

# Switch to Live Agent - Messenger

### Things you should know&#x20;

1. Important settings
2. How to check messages requesting for a live agent
3. How to activate live agent mode
4. How to switch back to bot mode

### Main Points

1\. Go to Settings of your Facebook page, click **`Advanced Messaging`**, scroll down the page t&#x6F;**`General Settings`**, and click the third on&#x65;**`Responses are partially automated, with some support by people`**

2\. Click **`Primary Receiver for Handover Protocol`** to set as **“YOCTOL.AI”**, and click **`Secondary Receiver for Handover Protocol`** to set as **“Page Inbox”**.

![](https://4036424674-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LlAIFssOEGqft8svll9%2F-Lt8w8npmTjcrA6_LeU9%2F-Lt976CyIGRymxQDnZua%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=ab4f2d1a-ecf6-4540-bf72-7cfba781c91e)

3\. Return to Dialogue, and enable the live agent function on “Live Agent” message group.

![](https://4036424674-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LlAIFssOEGqft8svll9%2F-LpSXQduejcu2fGKQ4GU%2F-LpSXZADDTI1fhimpKQ_%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=1b05d664-d4b6-4506-a242-0102e05ea62f)

### How to check messages requesting for Live Agent?

1. The messages between customers and your bot are stored in the **“Done”** inbox.
2. When a customer enables Live Agent mode, messages will be moved to **“Main”** inbox. The bot will no longer reply to the customer’s messages.

### How to activate Live Agent mode?

1\. Setting buttons for Switching to Live Agent.

![](https://4036424674-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LlAIFssOEGqft8svll9%2F-LpSXQduejcu2fGKQ4GU%2F-LpSXcZ05ipGMwKed2pu%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=59f3d28b-ef95-4128-bdf2-6c6e5673d00e)

You can set a button that connects to the **“Switch to Live Agent”** message. You can also set the message in your persistent menu so that customers can easily switch between two modes.

{% hint style="info" %}
Hint: Although the “Switch to Live Agent” message can be triggered by NLU or regular expression, we do not suggest you to do so. If you do so, customers may accidentally trigger the switch.
{% endhint %}

When a customer triggers the **“Switch to Live Agent”** message, the system activates Live Agent mode. Now if this message is triggered, bot will respond with **“Live Agent Switched On”**.

2\. Live Agent responding

You can also manually move customer’s messages to **“Main”** inbox. The customer will then receive a **“Switch to Live Agent”** message.

### Switching back to bot mode

![](https://4036424674-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LlAIFssOEGqft8svll9%2F-LpSXQduejcu2fGKQ4GU%2F-LpSXgnB3zxF0P6sV9k8%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=35b23ba7-2f3a-4089-b1c7-583cff63064c)

1\. After resolving a customer’s request for live agent, click on **`Mark as done`** on the top right corner. The message resolved will automatically be moved to the **“Done”** inbox. In the meantime, the customer will receive an **“Back to the Bot”** message, with an **“Bot Responses On”** message after a few seconds. This means that the customer has successfully switched back to bot mode, and messages later on will be processed by the bot.&#x20;

2\. When a customer is in live agent mode, clicking the **“Back to the Bot”** button under **“Switch to Live Agent”** or **“Live Agent Switched On”** message, will switch the conversation back to bot mode.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Notice:\
If your don't want to use Creator anymore in the future and you activated the Live Agent service, please go to Advanced Messaging > App Settings of your Facebook page, unset “Primary Receiver for Handover Protocol” and "Secondary Receiver for Handover Protocol".

# Referral Link - Messenger

Referral Link allows the bot to send a certain message Voice Message by clicking a shortened m.me link.

### Introduction

Referral Link is an advanced function for Messenger platform.

A single message can be tied to a fixed link; when customers click on the link, they will be directed to a new conversation with the bot, replying a certain message content. This is a “shortcut” to start a particular conversation with the bot.

{% hint style="success" %}
With the use of Referral Link, customers can directly reach a specific message content.

# Extension

### Introduction

Extension is an advanced function for Messenger platform.

When a button’s hyperlink is connected with a website, you can select the prompt action to be an “extension”. Then when a customer clicks on the button, a website will be displayed directly on the current tab as an extension. This will not open any new windows or new tabs.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
When using “Extension” function, the linked website only needs support for mobile devices. There’s no need for an extra desktop version of the website.
{% endhint %}

2. Poor dialogue design.
3. False predictions by NLU model.

The following guide may effectively improve the bot’s performance.

### Method 1: Fixing Chatbot’s Rules

For example, in the message of “Response to requesting delivery”, if you falsely set the rule with “Asking about price” intent instead of “Requesting about delivery” intent, no matter how well you train your model, the response will always be incorrect.

Before you publish your bot, double check if you set the rule for each message correctly.

### **Method 2: Optimizing Dialogue Messages**

Since anything can be expressed in various ways, if you design an overly specific response for a certain dialogue, the bot may respond incoherently. We suggest you read through the following guide and make adjustments for your dialogue design.

**1. Use general responses instead of yes-no responses**

For certain occasions, customers may ask questions that can be answered either generally or with a simple “yes” or “no”. A more general response will allow your bot to provide the needed answer under a broader range of questions.

> **\[ EXAMPLE ]** A question about business hours can be formatted in two ways: “Are you open on Sunday?” and “What day are you closed?” In this case, simply answering “no” would be a bad response. Alternatively, a more flexible answer would be “We are open from 10am to 10pm from Monday to Saturday. We are closed on Sunday”.

**2. Combining messages**

For matters that have similar nature, we advise you creating a single message with which the robot can handle all possible questions regarding the same matter.

### Method 3: Improve Chatbot’s NLU Understanding

If your bot answers the wrong thing because of inaccurate intent prediction, you can improve your NLU by following the guide below.

**1. Improve utterances**

You can increase the number of utterances and diversify them with different sentence patterns or other vocabulary. For more information, please visit [(3) Create Intents and Utterances.](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/jian-ji-qi-ren-zhi-nan/3-create-intents-and-utterances)

**2. Adjusting intent structures**

You can combine similar intents together for the bot to answer ambiguous questions. For other questions that the bot still cannot understand or answer correctly, you can add more intents to handle them.

**\[ Example 1 ]** \
Utterance 1: \[Do you sell bananas?]

Utterance 2: \[Do you sell apples?]

Utterance 3: \[Do you sell oranges?]

Since the structure of the three utterances is very similar, they can be combined to one utterance as “Do you sell **{{fruit}}**?”

&#x33;**. Use entities when applicable**

You can utilize **“entities”** and combine various utterances with similar sentence structure in one utterance only. In other words, if several utterances share similar structure and differentiate only in certain vocabularies, you can consider using entities to replace the vocabularies.

If the only differences between several utterances are the differences in vocabulary, you can consider using entity directly.

Reminder: If you adjust any utterances / intents / entities, you need to click “Train” in order to keep the NLU model updated.

# How to Activate a Staging Chatbot?

### Question

Before publishing my chatbot, I’m afraid of potential errors that could affect the actual bot running on my Facebook page or LINE account. How can I know if my chatbot perform as usual before I publish it?

### Answer

You can **create another Facebook page or LINE official account and connect it to your chatbot for testing**. After making sure that everything works as intended, you can then reconnect the bot back to your actual Facebook page or LINE account.

Also, if you want to test out a LINE bot’s broadcast function, you can create a channel on[ LINE Developers](https://developers.line.biz/zh-hant/) and select Messaging API -> Developer trial. A maximum number of 50 people are allowed to receive broadcasted messages from the Developer trail, but you are not allowed to upgrade to the premium plan. Although you can’t broadcast with the Free plan, you can upgrade to a premium plan when needed.

When using a bot for testing, please be aware:

**1. LINE official accounts cannot have one-on-one conversations with customers after chatbots are connected.**

In other words, after activating the Messenger API from LINE official, you are no longer able to use the one-on-one conversation with your customers, and you also cannot use parts of the app interfaces. You can use a staging chatbot to evaluate what kind of bot is suitable for you. (LINE official accounts 2.0 are planning on solving parts of this problem.

**2. Messenger Chatbots Tagging Policy**

You can use a staging chatbot to further understand the tagging policy Facebook has on Messenger chatbots and the effects the [“24 + 1 policy”](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/messenger-platform/policy/policy-overview/?translation#24hours_window) has on the contents of your broadcast.

* Please select “Promotion Excluded” if the broadcast gives only non-promotional content such as notices for changing address or events. Also, please read [“Facebook Message Tags Policy”](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/messenger-platform/send-messages/message-tags/?locale=zh_TW) to select the proper tag for your broadcast.
* Please select “Promotion Included” if the content contains promotion. For example, notifications for daily on-sale products, discounts, or auctions would be under that category. Marking a promotional broadcast with a non-promotional tag may result in a ban on your account.
* Promotional content may only be sent to people who interacted with the chatbot within the past 24 hours. **People who haven’t interacted with the bot for 24 hours can only receive the “first component” of the promotional message.**<br>

# Dialogue

**`Dialogue`** is what defines the interaction structure of a chatbot (It is under **`My Bot`** on the left sidebar on YOCTOL.AI,). A chatbot interacts with its users according to how its dialogue is designed. Dialogue is made of groups of [messages](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/message).

# Message

Under `Dialogue` on the left sidebar on YOCTOL.AI, `Message` is the basic unit of a chatbot’s [dialogue.](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/dialogue) A message is the designated content with which a chatbot replies to its users each time when the users interact with the bot. A corresponding message is given by a bot when the rule set in the message is triggered.

[Components](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/component) of a message can be in forms of texts, images, or carousels.

A messages is triggered by its [“Rule”](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/rule).

### Example

Take a bot for a beverage shop as an example. It needs to be able to understand three basic intents from its customers: 1. products inquiry, 2. delivery requests, and 3. branch information inquiry. After understanding every intent of each input given by a customer, the bot should be able to respond with right messages.<br>

# Component

**Component** is the basic unit of a [message](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/message) on YOCTOL.AI

YOCTOL.AI supports Facebook Messenger and LINE’s conversation components.

A message can contain several components. Every platform has its own regulations on the number of components in a single message. LINE limits bots up to 5 components per message, whereas Messenger does not have a limit on the number of components.

### Messenger Conversation Component

# Intent

Under “My Bot” on the left sidebar on YOCTOL.AI, **`Intent`** is where you tell the bot how to categorize users’ intentions.

If you want to train your chatbot with its NLU engine on YOCTOL.AI, you need to have at least 2 intents. You can have a maximum of 25 intents.

{% hint style="info" %}
We suggest you design 2-3 intents at first for your chatbot with 3-5 [utterances](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/utterance) for each intent. An intent can have a maximum of 30 utterances.
{% endhint %}

### Example

Take a chatbot for a beverage shop as an example. It has to understand these three basic intents.

* Products Inquiry
* Delivery Request
* Branches Inquiry

There can be many ways to express the same intent. For example, when a customer asks about a new product of the shop, he/she could say “What brand is this? Is it good?” or “Do you have anything new?” With the NLU engine embedded in your chatbot, the bot would categorize these two messages as similar and respond with a product information message.

# Utterance

**Utterances** are various ways of expressions for the same [intent](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/intent) used by the chatbot to learn and categorize the intent.

We recommend a number of 3-5 utterances for each intent with diverse and representative sentence structures. Each intent has a maximum of 30 utterances.

You can utilize [“entities”](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/entity) and put various utterances with similar sentence structure in one utterance only. Each utterance can have a maximum of 3 entity values.

### Example

Take a beverage shop chatbot as an example. If we want to train it to understand the intent of delivery request, the following would be possible utterances for this intent. In utterance 3, we can use an entity of “drink name” instead of using countless\
utterances to list out all the drinks. If there are entities used, you can use the symbols {{ }} to mark them.

1. I want to order many cups!
2. How many cups do I need to buy for delivery?
3. How long will it take to deliver 10 cups of {{drink name}}
4. …

# Entity

Under **`Intent`** on the left sidebar on YOCTOL.AI, an **`entity`** includes a group of entity values, which are normally nouns of the same category and can all be applied whenever the specific entity is used in any utterance. Common entities include: objects, names, time, locations or prices.

Entities are under[ intents](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/intent). When a user sends in messages, the NLU model will first identify the message’s intent, then it will match the message with all the entity values listed. Same entity can be used in multiple intents, widening the range of knowledge a chatbot can learn from its [utterances](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/utterance).

An entity can have multiple entity values. An entity value may have multiple synonyms.

You can create entities when writing [utterances.](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/utterance) Entities should be marked with the symbols **{{ }}**.

{% hint style="danger" %}
The name of an entity cannot start with a number.
{% endhint %}

### Example

Take a beverage shop chatbot as an example. A possible entity for product inquiry may be the type of product.

* Entity: Product
* Entity Value: Boba, bubble green tea
* Synonyms for Boba: bubble tea; bubble green tea: boba green tea

![](https://4036424674-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LlAIFssOEGqft8svll9%2F-LpkYt_WYcjDdmSLNy9v%2F-LpkYwj6cLIp9rqiH2Wp%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=90565e88-d92e-4a54-8b5a-bbe9b9feb5b2)

You can use the entity “Product” for the intent “Product inquiry as such:

1. **Expand utterances**: An example utterance for the intent “Product inquiry” would be “I want to learn more about {{product}}”

   * To the NLU engine, this utterance may be expanded into:
     * I want to learn more about the **bubble tea.**
     * I want to learn more about the **bubble green tea.**
     * I want to learn more about the **boba.**
     * I want to learn more about the **boba green tea.**
   * Imagine you have hundreds of products. It’s impossible to list all the products out as utterances. Therefore, replace the product names with a single entity to assist your chatbot’s NLU training.

2. **Dialogue design**: For the dialogue corresponding to the intent Product Inquiry, you can design a message that provides the menu of the shop or information about each beverage.
   * Basic answer: the “Product Introduction” message can be used for every single product on the menu.
   * You can even have a more specific response message for a certain entity.
     * Message “product\_intro\_bubble\_tea” gives information about bubble tea.
     * Message “product\_intro\_bubble\_green” gives information about bubble green tea.

# Rule

Each [message](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/message) on YOCTOL.AI has its own “rule”. Each rule defines a certain situation for the chatbot to react to the chatbot users’ input.

**There can only be one message connected to each rule.** \
**However, a message can have multiple rules.**

If you apply the same rule to multiple messages, the chatbot might not be able to reply correctly.

### Example

Take the message “Order information” as an example. The following examples are possible rules for the message.

1. NLU: Select the intent for “Order Information”
2. Keyword matching: Select “When it matches any keyword: ‘place an order’, ‘order drinks’ or ‘order’
3. Regular expression: write a regular expression such as “.\*(order|buy).\*$”. For more information about regular expressions, please visit [Regular Expression](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/regular-expression).

   <br>

# Regular Expression

[Rules](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/term-translations/rule) on YOCTOL.AI come in forms such as NLU, keyword, and regular expression. Among these forms, regular expressions describe expressions that follows a certain rule. They are used to inspect, search, or replace texts that match the rule. Common abbreviations of regular expressions are Regexp, Regex or RE.

### Example

There are hundreds of ways to express the same meaning in any language. Also, there are different structures to achieve the similar meanings. These sentences can be expressed in certain forms of structures if we carefully examine and categorize them.

Take the following as an example: **`Large cup of coke`**, **`Medium cup of coke`**, **`Small cup of sprite`** and **`Medium cup of Fanta`**. We know that there are two basic features in these phrases: **`the size of the cup`** and **`the type of the drink`**.

If we put **`Large, Medium and Small`** into one group, and **`Coke, Sprite and Fanta`** to another, we then have an essential rule of thumb for this kind of sentences.

| Size                                  | Kind                                 |
| ------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------ |
| <p>Large</p><p>Medium</p><p>Small</p> | <p>Coke</p><p>Sprite</p><p>Fanta</p> |

With regular expressions, we can narrow these three sentences down to a rule as below:

> (large|medium|small) cup of (coke|sprite|fanta)

### Common circumstances for regular expressions

Regular expressions are often used for emails, phone numbers, birthdays, or any sort of structural character combinations.

> Phone number: ^(\\+1)?d{10}$
>
> Social Security Number: ^\d{3}-\d{2}-\d{4}$
>
> Email (gmail for example): ^.\*@gmail.com$
>
> Birthday: ^\d{4}-\d{2}-\d{2}$

### When to use regular expressions

When we build our chatbots, we sometimes hope that certain combinations of words in a customer’s message would normally lead them to a certain intent, which further triggers a response from the dialogue. These combinations may subtly display a certain kind of combination rule.

This is where regular expressions come in handy. When encountering situations like this, you should sort the customers’ messages and use regular expressions to categorize, exclude, or set limitations to the messages. We will demonstrate an actual use case later.

### Symbols

Basic rule: These symbols limit the number of occurrence of the character before it. We will introduce a couple common symbols below. For more symbols, there are many cheat sheets available online.<br>

| Symbol | Meaning       | Example | Represent                |
| ------ | ------------- | ------- | ------------------------ |
| .      | Any character | .       | `a` `b` `c` `d`          |
| \*     | 0 or more     | a\*     | `Ø`, `a`, `aa`, `aaa`    |
| +      | 1 or more     | a+      | `a`, `aa`, `aaa`, `aaaa` |
| ?      | 0 or 1        | a?      | `Ø`, `a`                 |

**^** start of a string:\
Regular Expression: /^hello/\
Example: `hello!` -> Match           "~~hey hello"~~ -> No Match

**$** end of a string:\
Regular Expression: /+eat$/\
Example: `I want to eat` -> Match ~~“I want to eat food”~~ -> No Match

**|** or e.g., a|b      >>>      `a` or `b`

**()** defines the priority of a scope, e.g., (apple|banana) >>> `apple`, `banana`

**\[ ]** any element within it, e.g., \[abc] >>> any of `a` or `b` or `c`.

**{ }** number range, e.g., .{2} >>> `ab`, `bc`, `cd`, `dw`

**\d** any number, e.g., \d{3} >>> `123`, `456`, `789`

### Example

Say for an online clothes shop, we want to train an intent that knows the different colors of the different types of clothes in stock.

> As to **`colors`** and **`clothes types`**, there are many ways of expressing:

* Red jeans, blue shirt, yellow shorts, green jacket, yellow jacket, green shorts

Different **`colors`** and **`types`** may rearrange into many possibilities. Therefore, we can use a regular expression to capture all the possibilities.

| Color                    | Type                         |
| ------------------------ | ---------------------------- |
| Red, Blue, Yellow, Green | Jeans, Shirt, Shorts, Jacket |

Regular expression:

> (red|blue|yellow|green) (jeans|shirt|shorts|jacket)

However, users may add in words between or around these keywords, for example:

* Red pink shirt, green colored shorts…

In this case, the regular expression would be:

> (red|blue|yellow|green) (.\* )?(jeans|shirt|shorts|jacket)

To be more advanced, we would want to capture the description of intensity of the colors. That case, the regex would be:

> (light|deep)(red|blue|yellow|green) (.\* )?(jeans|shirt|shorts|jacket)

If you want to rule out sentences that ask for a certain style of something, the regex would be:

> ^I (need|want) the .\* style$

# Menu

**`Menu`** is Under MyBot on the left sidebar of YOCTOL.AI. It is where you can design the content of the persistent menu normally located in the bottom of the conversation window. With the persistent menu, users can easily find the basic function for the chatbot.

Different platforms have different names for such menus. On YOCTOL.AI, we call them “Menus”.

* In Messenger it is called [Persistent Menu](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/messenger-platform/send-messages/persistent-menu)
* In LINE it is called[ Rich Menu](https://developers.line.biz/en/docs/messaging-api/using-rich-menus/)

### Messenger Persistent Menu

You can have a maximum of 3 layers for a messenger persistent menu

# Default Reply

You can define your chatbot’s **`default reply on the Dialogue page`** on YOCTOL.AI. When a customer’s message is beyond the knowledge scope of your bot, your bot will send the default reply back to the customer.

{% hint style="info" %}
The default reply message is not removable, but you can edit or disable it.
{% endhint %}

# Welcome Message

**`The Welcome Message on the Dialogue page`** is a built-in message on YOCTOL.AI. It is sent automatically as the first message when a customer initiates a conversation with the chatbot.<br>

# Live Agent

The **`Switch to Live Agent`** on YOCTOL.AI dialogue page is a built-in message. When triggered, this message allows customers to switch from talking to the chatbot to talking to a live agent. For more information on setting this up, visit [\<Switch to Live Agent Messenger >](https://app.gitbook.com/@docs-en-yoctol-ai/s/yoctol/~/edit/drafts/-LnQJsTXatUDJ-slOjKr/v/master/advanced-settings/switch-to-live-agent-messenger).
